Hisar Additional District and Sessions Judge DR Chalia on Wednesday sentenced life imprisonment to self-styled godman Rampal and 13 other convicts in a murder case on Wednesday.
Six of the convicts were also convicted on Tuesday, where woman follower had died at Satlok Ashram in November 2014 and all the accused including Rampal were booked for murder, wrongful confinement and criminal conspiracy on November 19, 2014. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each under Section 302, Rs 1 lakh each under Section 120-B and Rs 5,000 under Section 343 of the IPC.
Earlier in November 2014, as the police reached Rampal’s ashram to arrest him, his 15,000 followers and devotees surrounded the massive 12 acres Ashram to avert the godman’s arrest.
