Bloys confirmed that the series will officially debut in January 2026, shifting slightly from its earlier expected late-2025 release window. The show adapts George R. R. Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas and will introduce audiences to Ser Duncan the Tall (played by Peter Claffey) and a young Aegon V Targaryen, nicknamed Egg (played by Dexter Sol Ansell).

Season 1’s rolling out with six episodes, kicking things off with “The Hedge Knight.” We’re talking almost a hundred years before all that wild Game of Thrones drama so, yeah, way before dragons went full Michael Bay. Bloys deferred to the show’s creators to confirm whether the comedy is actually ending, but did tell THR, “They have indicated that five seasons was what they were thinking.” This show’s supposed to feel a bit smaller, more personal, but still with some epic adventure vibes. It’s less about politics and more about actual friendship, a sprinkle of knightly honor, and how the Targaryens started their hot streak.
