Former Union Minister and senior leader Yashwant Sinha on Monday, took to Twitter and stated himself as ‘Dalit’ and asked Prime Minister Modi, “Why is Modi unfair to me?”.  Yashwant Singh tweeted after PM Modi called former Congress Chief Sitaram Kesri a ‘Dalit’ during a rally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a rally in Mahasamund of Chhattisgarh on Sunday attacked Congress party and stated that Sitaram Kesri, whom he described as a “Dalit”, was removed from the Congress President’s post because Kesri belonged to the oppresed and marginalised community.

As a fact, Kesri belonged to ‘Vaish’ (upper caste) community and further Congress leader Tarique Anwar attacked PM Modi over the whole controversy and stated “PM is again wrong, as Kesari Ji was not a Dalit. He belonged to ‘vaish’ community. Kesari Ji himself offered to resign from the post of Congress President if Sonia Ji was ready to take over. At that time I was Sitaram Kesari’s political advisor so I’m aware of it”.

Sitaram Kesri served as Congress Chief from 1996 to 1998 and was also elected as the President of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee in 1973.
