Following a case against Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha’s secretary Puja Shakun Pandey, her husband and 10 others for enacting Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, seers of Ghaziabad-based Shivshakti Dham Dasna have come out in support of the accused persons claiming that, “action against Pandey is wrong and a sign of dictatorship by the administration.”

Addressing media in Aligarh, seer Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati said: “What is wrong in shooting at the effigy of Mahatma Gandhi? How can police impose sections related to riots against the activists? If we can burn the effigy of Ravan then what is wrong in burning the effigy of Gandhi?”

Seer Saraswati continued saying that, “It is unfortunate that police cannot remove the photo of Pakistan’s founder Mohd Ali Jinnah from Aligarh Muslim University. But, they can easily target Hindu nationalists.”

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 71st death anniversary, the Hindu Mahasabha held Gandhi responsible for India’s partition in Uttar Pradesh’ Aligarh on Wednesday. The leaders of the Hindu Mahasabha celebrated Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination by shooting Mahatma Gandhi’s effigy and garlanding the statue of Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist who had killed Gandhi in 1948.

The shocking incident took place in Aligarh on January 30 where the Hindu Mahasabha’s national secretary Puja Shakun Pandey shot Bapu’s effigy using an artificial gun, following which ‘blood’ oozed out of the effigy.

Following the incident, a case was registered against Puja Shakun Pandey, her husband and 12 unknown under section 147, 148, 149, 295(a), 153(a) IPC. Six of the accused have been arrested while the others, including Pandey and her husband, are absconding.
