An immigration official stationed at an international airport has come under scrutiny following serious accusations from a female transit passenger.
The passenger, a student from Sri Lanka, reported that the official had pestered her with calls during her layover on August 3.
The student alleged that the official approached her at the Immigration counter, offered his contact number, and later repeatedly called her, suggesting she leave the airport to explore the city in his company. She claimed the calls extended unwelcome invitations to meet in the airport parking lot.
Following advice from a friend, the woman turned to the police, who have since registered a case under the BNS’s stalking sections as of July 4. The investigation into the misconduct allegations continues, police confirm.
