In-laws arrested for killing daughter-in-law over dowry in Bihar’s Gopalganj

In a shocking turn of events, In-laws brutally killed their daughter-in-law by hanging her up over dowry demand in Bihar’s Gopalganj. Police took the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The husband and father-in-law of the deceased have been arrested.

The incident happened at Semra village of Nagar police station. The reason for the murder is said to be dowry. As per reports, the in-laws had asked Rs 5 Lakh as dowry on marriage which they have not received.

According to reports, the 27-year-old deceased is identified as Anisha Devi. She was the wife of Neeraj Babu, a resident of Semra in Nagar police station. The couple got married on 20 January 2014.

According to the uncle of the deceased, he had spent a lot of money on their wedding. Despite this, her in-laws were demanding dowry of Rs 5 lakh. His niece was beaten up for not meeting the demand and she was also threatened with death.

When he was told about her niece’s death, he rushed to the house where he saw her hanging. The uncle of the deceased also told that despite her niece’s death, the in-laws were sitting in the same room and having their meals.
