India’s Fastest-Growing AI Startup Emergent: Emergent, an AI-powered software platform, has slipped into the unicorn club after it raised $130 million in a Series C round, pushing its valuation up to $1.5 billion. Honestly it happened just about a year after the company’s commercial launch, so it feels like one of the quickest-growing AI startups started by Indian entrepreneurs, and also one of the faster ones worldwide to hit unicorn status.

This latest round, as reports say, was led by Creaegis, with existing investors also joining in. The new funding is expected to speed up product development, grow engineering headcount. It help support the company’s global expansion plan because interest in AI-powered software creation keeps climbing, like it’s surging continuously.

Emergent was founded by brothers Mukund Jha and Madhav Jha. They’ve built a platform where people can craft software applications by using natural language prompts, not the usual traditional programming route. The target audience includes entrepreneurs, small businesses and even non-technical users, who want to make digital products without needing lots of coding knowhow.

Emergent’s growth has been remarkable. Earlier this year, the startup raised $70 million in a funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Khosla Ventures, which valued the company at $300 million. In just a few months, its valuation increased fivefold to $1.5 billion.

Rapid User Growth

The company attributes its rapid rise to explosive user adoption. Emergent previously reported crossing 100 million dollars in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within months of launch, alongside millions of users spread across nearly every major market. According to the company, more than 10 million users have created over 12 million applications using its platform.

“The real impact of the AI revolution will be a complete democratisation of who gets to build what software, where they get to build it, and how much it costs. It’s about making software development accessible to the people closest to the problem, regardless of their technical knowledge,” says Mukund Jha, Emergent co-founder and CEO.

Emergent’s unicorn milestone adds further momentum to India’s rapidly expanding AI startup ecosystem. The company says that 70% of its users have never coded before. For example, a small-business owner in South Florida rebuilt his car-detailing company’s website on Emergent in just four days for about $20 per month. This led to about 50 high-intent visitors each day and a 35% increase in leads.

What’s Next For Emergent?

With fresh funding in hand, Emergent is expected to invest heavily in research, product innovation and international expansion. With this Series C, Emergent’s total disclosed funding is now about $253 million. The previous round, a $70 million Series B led by Khosla Ventures and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, was completed in January 2026 and valued the company at $300 million.

Before that, Emergent raised $23 million in a Series A led by Lightspeed, with Prosus, Together, Y Combinator, and Google’s AI Futures Fund also participating. As competition gets more intense in the AI app-building arena, Emergent’s quick climb from startup to a $1.5 billion unicorn seems to highlight that Indian-founded tech firms are getting more and more say in how the next phase of global artificial intelligence innovation plays out.
