Accused in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, Indrani Mukerjea told a special CBI court on Wednesday that she wanted to divorce husband and co-accused Peter Mukerjea.
Special judge HS Mahajan, while stating that it was her personal matter, informed her that she did not require the permission of the court.
Peter Mukerjea was not present in the court, having been taken back to jail, just minutes before Indrani’s revelation before the court.
Earlier in the day, the same court framed charges against the Mukerjeas and another co-accused, Indrani’s ex husband Sanjeev Khanna, for criminal conspiracy, murder and destruction of evidence, among other charges.
Additionally, Indrani and Sanjeev were also charged for attempting to murder, her son, Mekahil Bora . The trio pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Earlier this month, the court has set the date for framing of charges following the culmination of the defence arguments.
Defence advocate Mihir Gheewala had told the court that the investigation agency has been pursuing an agenda against accused Peter Mukerjea and hence, truth has taken a backseat.
Mukherjea, Peter and Sanjeev are accused of murdering her daughter Sheena+ on the night of April 24, 2012.
Sheena was Indrani’s daughter from a previous relationship and she was engaged to Peter’s son, Rahul Mukerjea.
Driver Shyamvar Rai, who was also an accused in the case has now turned approver.
