The Indian Railways will be revamped its website and launch a new Android-based Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) mobile App soon. The move is being taken to ensure quicker, easier and smooth ticket-booking procedure for the passengers.
Reportedly, the revamped website will be easy to log-in, clutter-free and passenger-friendly. The problem of getting timed out during ticket booking will be resolved after the new changes. Besides, the new features will curb the misuse of facilities like Tatkal.
The IRCTC will also start machinery to aware the passengers about the arrival and departure of the train through SMS on a real time basis. Additionally, if the train is late, the IRCTC will alert passengers about the same along with mentioning the cause of delay, the new timings.
The IRCTC will be aided by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to update travellers about the exact location of the train.
Notably, the Ministry of Railways recently launched E-Ticketing portal in Hindi to give a better Journey Experience. The railway fares are also likely to lessen with government planning to withdraw the merchant discount rate (MDR) charges that are applicable on payments made via debit or credit card.
