Rumour mills are abuzz with news that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is in talks with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan about a project. If this rumour turns out to be true it will be the biggest casting coup in Bollywood. Sources close to the project tell us that Bhansali is trying to remake Baiju Bawara, except it will be on a grander scale. He has approached both, Shah Rukh and Salman, but both of them are yet to give him an answer.
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan had a decade long rivalry, but that is a thing of the past now, as these actors now regularly make appearances in each others’films. While SRK appeared in Tubelight, Salman will have a guest appearance in Zero.
Tansen is known to be the greatest classical vocalist ever to have existed in India, and was one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) of Emperor Akbar’s court. Nobody could sing in the city unless he or she could sing better than Tansen. If this was not the case, he or she was executed. Baiju Bawra is the story of an unknown singer, Baiju, who is on a mission to defeat Tansen in a musical duel to avenge the death of his father.
