US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said isolating Qatar was the ‘beginning of end’ of terrorism. Donald Trump claimed that his trip to the Middle East was “already paying off” as regional leaders followed through on their promise to take a hard line on funding militant groups.

“So good to see the Saudi Arabia visit with the King and 50 countries already paying off. They said they would take a hard line on funding extremism, and all reference was pointing to Qatar. Perhaps this will be the beginning of the end to the horror of terrorism!” Trump said in a series of Twitter posts.

Trump also said that the leaders he met on a Middle East trip had notified him that Qatar was financing “radical ideology”. After which he had demanded they take action to stop financing militant groups. “During my recent trip to the Middle East I stated that there can no longer be funding of Radical Ideology. Leaders pointed to Qatar – look!” Trump tweeted.

Notably, Qatar denies all allegations against it, calling them baseless.

On Monday, Arab nations including Saudi Arabia and Egypt ended alliances with Qatar, accusing it of supporting extremism. This is also viewed as the biggest diplomatic crisis to hit the region in decades.
