Pulling the ropes of the chariot is a very lucky act, and even kings and top officials have taken part in sweeping the path before the Lord’s chariot. This shows that in front of God, all are equal, and there is no place for ego.
The celebration is not just in Puri anymore. The love for Lord Jagannath has spread far beyond. In Prayagraj, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is getting ready to hold their own Rath Yatra on Sunday, 29 June 2025.
ISKCON’s chariot will begin at 4:00 PM from Hira Halwai Crossing and move past Subhash Chauraha and Hanuman Mandir before reaching KP Ground. ISKCON temple president Achyuta Mohan Das said, “We chose Sunday so that more people can join and take blessings.” This shows how thoughtful the organisers are about involving more devotees.
