The move marks a significant shift in strategy. Rather than continuing to hold distributor funds while awaiting regulatory clearance, the production house is reportedly considering taking complete control of the film’s eventual release whenever certification and legal hurdles are resolved.

The film’s troubles began earlier this year when it failed to secure a release despite extensive promotional activity ahead of Pongal 2026. Reports say that certification issues with the Central Board of Film Certification, (CBFC) kinda led to a long drawn out delay, so the makers ended up postponing the release.
Later on, months have passed but the whole project still doesn’t have a confirmed date. This ongoing uncertainty is hitting distributors, exhibitors and the fans who thought the film would reach theatres in January. Industry watchers add that these certification delays can come with major financial consequences, especially for big-budget projects, where the release window and advance ticket planning are set out in advance.

Speaking to industry publication SCREEN, Mohan Suprith reportedly confirmed the production house’s decision to proceed with refunds.
According to multiple media reports, he stated: “While we are still in talks, we have decided to refund the money to the film distributors. We felt it was unfair to keep them in the loop while we are still waiting for a possible release date.”
While the refund process is being discussed, the producers have not announced any final release strategy or timeline.
