January 17 School Holiday: A very cold weather is causing problems in many parts of North India and because of the cold wave, thick fog, and poor visibility, schools in several states have decided to keep students at home for a few more days. These decisions are being taken mostly by local district officers. States like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Bihar are facing strong winter conditions. Areas such as Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and many other cities are also affected.

Due to this harsh weather, schools in many places will stay closed until January 17, 2026. Hill states have already been dealing with extreme cold, but now even the plains are facing heavy fog and low temperatures. Because of this many parents and students are asking officials to extend winter holidays further to keep children safe.
