Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa has completely recovered, Apollo Hospitals chairman Dr Pratap Reddy said on Friday.

“She is aware of her surroundings and understands what is going on around her. She has completely recovered,” he said to journalists on the sideline of a book launch.

This morning, a senior AIADMK leader told PTI that she would be moved out of the critical care unit (CCU) soon to a private room.

“The lung infection is under control. She has passed the critical stage. The respiratory system is being weaned away. It is being used on and off,” AIADMK spokesperson told NDTV.

Sources said that for the past one week Jayalalithaa had been eating semi solid food and was also interacting with people.

A team of 15 doctors, including a specialist from London and three doctors from AIIMS, have been treating Jayalalithaa.

She was admitted in the hospital on September 22 after she complained of fever and dehydration.

Ever since her hospitalization, AIADMK cadres have been organizing several ‘pujas’ and special prayers for the speedy recovery of ‘Amma’.
