JEE Main 2026 Exam Rules: The JEE Main 2026 exam is very important for students who want to study engineering. The National Testing Agency will hold Session 1 of the exam from January 21 to January 29, 2026. As the exam date gets closer, students should understand the basic rules for the exam day.

Students should remember that all exam details like date, time and centre are written on the admit card. It is important to read all instructions carefully before leaving home. Small mistakes can cause big trouble at the exam centre.

Things You Must Carry to the Exam Centre

Before going for the exam, students must check that they have all required items.

  • The most important document is the JEE Main 2026 admit card. Students must carry a clear printed copy where all details are easy to read. The admit card also has rules that must be followed.
  • A valid photo ID is also needed. This can be an Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, PAN card or driving licence.
  • Students should also carry two passport size photos. These should be the same as the ones uploaded during the application process.
  • Some students may also need a photo verification certificate, but only if they received an email about it from NTA.

Things You Should Not Bring on Exam Day

The exam hall has very strict rules. Students are not allowed to bring electronic items like mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, earphones or any gadgets. Carrying these items can lead to disqualification.

Books, notes or any written papers are also not allowed. Students should avoid wearing jewellery or metal items like rings, chains or bracelets. These can slow down security checks and cause unnecessary trouble. Wearing simple clothes is always a safer choice.
