Career:

With the 1967 film Farz, directed by Ravikant Nagaich and recognised as a golden jubilee success, Jeetendra first gained attention. His trademark were the white trainers and t-shirt he bought from a superstore for the song “Mast Baharon Ka Main Aashiq” from the film Farz. His enthusiastic dancing in films like Banphool and Farz earned him the nickname Jumping Jack.

In the 1980s, Jeetendra frequently starred alongside Jayapradha or Sridevi in Padmalaya Productions’ adaptations of the Southern Indian dramas of K. Bapayya, Rama Rao Tatineni, and K. Raghavendra Rao. Movies like Mawaali, Justice Chaudhry, Jaani Dost, Himmatwala, and Tohfa were huge successes despite receiving little praise from critics because they featured lavish sequences with flamboyant clay vessels, dozens of embellishments, lyrics by Indeewar, and music by Bappi Lahiri.

Jeetendra recently made a cameo in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a well-known television series. He also appeared as a judge on the Sony TV dance reality competition Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Early life:

Jeetendra was raised in Girgaum, a neighbourhood of Mumbai. He lived in Ramachandra, a middle-class neighbourhood. He still treasures those recollections and returns to the location frequently during the Ganapati festival every year. Hema Malini acknowledged in her formal biography that they almost got married before she backed out. He later wed Shobha Kapoor, a friend from his youth. The pair has two children: a son named who is also a well-known Bollywood actor and a daughter named Ekta Kapoor who is the owner of Balaji Telefilms.
