Jharkhand: BJP government spends Rs 304 Crore on advertisements between 2014-2018

In an RTI(Right To Information Act, 2005) filed asking the expenditure of Jharkhand’s governments on advertisements, it was found that the BJP government of Jharkhand has spent around Rs 304 crore over it in the four years of their governance(2014-2018).

The breakdown of the government expenditure on advertisements over the year is as follows:

In years 2014-15 and 2016-17, Rs 40 crore and Rs 70 crore was allotted to advertising and no balance was registered for the same. Whereas in the year 2015-16 Rs 620 was saved out of an allotted amount of Rs 55 crore.

In 2017-18 there was again a rise in the allocation devoted to advertising, this time around it was Rs 78 crore. Out of this, Rs 1.3 crores were shown in the balance.

In the latest session of 2018-19, Rs 62.2 crores have already been used up out of the allocation of Rs 80 crore.

In a sequence of farmer assistant programs, after Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, yesterday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced ‘Mukhyamantri Krishi Ashirwad Yojna’ (MKAY) by which the state government would offer Rs 5,000 per acre of land to farmers for the kharif crops.

“The farmers who have less than one acre of land will also get a minimum of Rs 5,000 for the kharif crop, which would be paid to them through cheques,” Das said.

The Jharkhand CM said, “The Krishi Ashirwad Yojana will benefit 22.76 lakh small and medium farmers of the state. The scheme would be included in the 2019-20 budget and Rs 2,250 crore would be spent on it.”

“Under the scheme, 45 lakh acres would be covered for the cultivation of paddy. The state government is paying Rs 66-crore premium on crop insurance for 14.85 lakh farmers. The farmers are also being provided loans on zero per cent interest rates,” the CM further added.
