Jharkhand CM Briefs Governor on JPSC: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday met Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar at Raj Bhavan to discuss the alleged irregularities in recruitment processes conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). The meeting comes as student protests in Ranchi continue to intensify over demands for a transparent probe and accountability in recruitment examinations.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister assured that the state government was committed to ensuring justice for students and that no injustice would be allowed against the youth. He said the government would act within the constitutional and legal framework after examining all facts related to the alleged recruitment irregularities.
Governor Calls for Transparency
According to an official statement, Governor Gangwar described the allegations surrounding the recruitment examinations as a serious matter. He emphasised that recruitment agencies must function with complete transparency so that public confidence in the selection process is maintained.
The Governor also underlined the importance of ensuring fairness and credibility in examinations conducted by constitutional recruitment bodies such as JPSC and JSSC.

After briefing the Governor, Hemant Soren reiterated that his government is treating the issue with “utmost seriousness and sensitivity.” He assured students that the administration would not allow any injustice against young job aspirants and that necessary action would follow after the ongoing investigations are completed.

“We are waiting for the findings and conclusions of the investigating agencies. The people of the state will soon be informed in detail about the matter. Students will receive full support in accordance with constitutional and legal provisions,” he said.
Thousands of students have been protesting in Ranchi over alleged irregularities in multiple recruitment examinations conducted by JPSC and JSSC. Protesters are demanding:
- A transparent investigation into the recruitment process.
- Action against those responsible for alleged irregularities.
- Reforms to bring back trust in state recruitment agencies maybe a bit better than before
- Equal chances for all job aspirants, without favouritism at least that’s the idea
The agitation has pulled a lot of public focus, with students talking about a Tiranga March and an Assembly gherao if their demands stay unaddressed.
Government’s Next Steps
The state government has said that probes are underway and that whatever call is made on the disputed recruitment processes will be taken only after every detail is checked. Some reports also suggest the CID is already conducting scrutiny around allegations connected to a few of the recruitment examinations.
Meanwhile, student representatives have agreed in principle to hold talks with the government, while insisting on transparency during the discussions, including video recording of the meeting.
