Ranchi:In a move aimed at easing the festive preparations of state employees, the Jharkhand government has announced the early disbursement of September salaries.
According to a notification issued by the state’s Finance Department, all government officials and staff, including those in the Raj Bhavan, state secretariat, Jharkhand High Court, and Vidhan Sabha, will receive their monthly pay for September 2025 on September 25, instead of the usual month-end schedule.
The directive, issued under Rule 139 of the Jharkhand Treasury Code, 2016, was signed on September 21 and comes in light of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. Durga Puja, one of the most widely celebrated festivals in eastern India, will see offices and institutions closed for several days, making early salary payments a practical relief for employees.

Financial Ease for Festive Season
The government stated that the decision was taken to ensure that employees and their families can comfortably manage expenses during the festive period. With consumer spending traditionally surging during Durga Puja, early salary disbursement is expected to not only ease household budgets but also provide a small boost to local markets, retail shops, and small businesses that depend on festival sales.
“Timely access to salaries allows families to make necessary purchases before the festive holidays begin. This decision also ensures smooth financial planning for thousands of government workers,” a senior finance official said, adding that the move has been welcomed across departments.
