Jharkhand: Mobocracy claims one more life

One more person is killed and two others are injured in Jharkhand’s Palamu district in a mob violence triggered by rumours of being a thief.

Vikas, Bablu, and Guddu had gone to look for a bride in the Tisibar village on Wednesday night. All the victims belong to Bihar’s Dehri area.

The incident occurred at night and the villagers held them, hostage on the suspicion of a thief and started beating them.

Police immediately rushed to the spot as it received the information.  They have to fire four rounds of the bullet in the air to rescue the victims. Somehow they managed to rescue them and took them to the Vishrampur hospital.

Bablu died during the treatment in the hospital and rest two of them are out of danger now and had been referred to Daltonganj hospital.

Guddu had gone to see Lallu’s daughter for marriage, who belongs to Mushar caste.

Palamu SP Indrajeet Mahatha has said that two separate FIR’s have been filed. they have registered a case of mob violence and another on the attack over police force as well. He also said that police have identified the attackers and there will be a speedy trial of the case as per the supreme court directions.

Police have also provided security to the victims family and they have been kept in Modinagar. A large number of the police force have been deployed in the area and the superintendent of police is camping in the village. Victims family will get the compensation as per government provisions.
