Jisha Murder: Court rejects further inquiry petition

Ernakulam Sessions Court on Thursday dismissed the petition filed by Jisha’s father asking further investigation in to the case.

The petitioner said that some of the findings of the investigation team are factually incorrect.

Pappu, father of Jisha, alleged that there is a mismatch in the time of death recorded in the charge sheet and the post-mortem report.

He said in the petition that investigation team could not find the murder weapon. He also said that the police version, which says the murder was committed by the accused Ameerul Islam alone, was hard to believe, Mathrubhumi reports

However, the court pointed out that the police had investigated and clarified Pappu’s allegation.

The court clarified that further investigation can only considered if the police asked for it and a third party cannot interfere in the case.

Responding to the verdict, Pappu said that he would appeal the High Court to forward the case to CBI as he is not satisfied with the Kerala police investigation.

Jisha, a 30 year-old law student, was found brutally raped and murdered at her small and battered home in Kerala’s Perumbavoor. Her mutilated body bore at least 30 stab wounds and part of her intestines had been removed using a sharp weapon.
