Soon after raids were underway at the residence of NDTV co-founder and executive co-chairperson Prannoy Roy, NDTV continues to remain in the headlines on Monday. An exclusive report by exchange4media said that yoga guru turned businessman, the founder of Patanjali Ayurved- Baba Ramdev had a preliminary discussion with some stakeholders of NDTV regarding the acquisition of the channel.
The report also mentioned that there was no reply from the channel when they were contacted for their response to these developments. NDTV has been undergoing a period of financial turmoil of late, the report added.
This story is interesting in both ways, considering NDTV’s recent financial highs and lows and Baba Ramdev’s overnight makeover to a business tycoon from India’s favourite yoga guru. His brand selling everything from shampoos and cereal to skin creams and instant noodles. The company he founded claims to have had sales of more than $300m (£200m) over the past 12 months.
However, after a few hours, Nidhi Razdan, a senior Indian journalist with NDTV, took to Twitter for clarification. As straight as it could get, Razdan tweeted,
