June 30 Financial Deadline: June 30, 2026 is turning into a busy day for households, taxpayers, and train users. A few rules and deadlines are lined up around this time, and some bigger changes start from July 1. The main idea is simple. Finish the work before the date comes, so there is no last-minute stress, no blocked benefit, and no avoidable penalty.

LPG e-KYC

If you use Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas, the e-KYC step is very important. News reports say LPG consumers who have not yet completed e-KYC have been asked to finish it by June 30, 2026 so they can keep getting subsidy support without trouble. The main risk here is not an instant disconnection. The bigger issue is delay or trouble with subsidy benefits later. People can complete the process through the company apps or biometric Aadhaar-based verification.

Income tax checks

The tax part is a little different. Under Section 143(2), the Income Tax Department can send a scrutiny notice within six months from the end of the financial year in which the return is filed. So the exact last date depends on when the return was filed. A scrutiny notice does not automatically mean fraud. It usually means the department wants to check details, income, deductions, or a mismatch with records.

Passport fees

Passport users should also move fast. From July 1, 2026, the fee for a fresh or reissue 36-page passport rises to Rs 2,500. A 60-page ordinary passport or reissue will cost Rs 3,500. Under Tatkal, a 36-page passport will cost Rs 5,000 and a 60-page passport will cost Rs 6,000. The earlier prices were lower, so anyone planning to apply should do it before the new rates begin.

Railway fines change from July 1

Indian Railways is also getting stricter. From July 1, the minimum penalty for travelling without a valid ticket or pass goes up from Rs 250 to Rs 500, and the actual fare still has to be paid. The maximum punishment stays the same in the law. Other railway offences are also being hit harder, including Rs 2,000 fines for smoking, hawking, and begging on trains or railway premises, and a Rs 2,500 penalty for male passengers in women’s coaches.
