Ending all speculations, the Apex Court on Tuesday declared that Justice CS Karnan was guilty of contempt of court and sentenced him to 6-month imprisonment. It is to be noted that he is the first sitting judge to be charged with contempt in the history of Indian judiciary.

Justice Karnan stepped into a whirlpool of controversies in the beginning of the year as he claimed that around 20 sitting and retired Supreme Court and High Court judges were corrupted.
