A Kansas man who killed a 32-year-old Indian immigrant Srinivas Kuchibhotla in a bar at Kansas city has been sentenced to life in prison on Tuesday. He had shot at two Indian engineers calling them a terrorist. 53-year-old American, Adam Purinton yelled, “Get out of my country!” in the bar, when he shot at them. He is sentenced to three consecutive life sentences with possibly no parol. Adam Purinton of Olathe had agreed to a plea deal that proposed sentence to life for him in prison for each three criminal charges that will run consecutive to each other.

Purinton had shot at two Indians Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani in February 2017. Srinivas died there while Alok got injuries. Meanwhile another man who tried to mediate was injured in the process. Purinton had fled from the bar after shooting Kuchibhotla and Madasani not to run away but to chase after Grillot.

He has confessed that he intentionally tried to kill the two Indians at the bar because of their race, colour, religion and nataionality. Kuchibhotla was an aviation systems engineer and programs manager at the GPS maker Gramin.

“The crimes at issue in this case are detestable,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said a statement Tuesday. “The defendant acted with clear premeditation in murdering one man, and attempting to murder a second man, simply because of their race, religion and national origin. As a result, a promising young life has been tragically cut short, and other lives have been filled with suffering.”
