Kara OTT Release: Netflix subscribers seems to be flocking over to watch Kara, the Tamil-language action thriller that has kind of popped up as one of the platform’s most talked-about titles these days. It runs for 2 hours and 41 minutes, 161 minutes in total. The Dhanush-starrer has seen a big sort of comeback after its digital debut with viewers helping it climb Netflix’s trending charts just weeks after it first hit theatres.
Why is Kara trending on Netflix?
Directed by Vignesh Raja, Kara originally landed in cinemas on April 30, 2026. During its theatrical phase it got mixed reviews in general but its Netflix release on May 28 has basically introduced it to a much wider crowd. Since then, the film has been sparking solid online buzz and a lot of people are praising the story that keeps tightening up, the hard-hitting action moments and Dhanush’s strong performance.
Also, if you look at recent chatter on social media, it looks like some viewers who passed on it back in theatres are now discovering it via streaming and rethinking the earlier criticism they may have had.

Another fan apologised directly to the makers and said, “Sorry Mr D and Vignesh Raja, I skipped a super solid film because of fake negative reviews and now I feel guilty. Good films deserve strong word of mouth, and Kara deserved a better audience.”
