Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar, who announced the second installment of the 2008 film ‘Dostana’ in 2018 has now fired Kartik Aaryan from the film. Dostana 2 will also star Janhvi Kapoor.
Kartik Aaryan is said to have replaced by Dharma Productions. According to the latest report by Bollywood Bubble, a source revealed to them that the production house decided to replace him because of lack of co-operation from the actor’s side and his agency. The star’s team was apparently not giving the shooting dates. And later his agency is said to have put forward the issue about creative differences in the script.
“Dharma has decided to replace Kartik Aaryan in Dostana 2 after a lot of discussions. The production house had been asking his agency for his dates for the shoots but there was no clear coordination on that end for months. After shooting for 20 days earlier, and a year and a half of sitting on with the original script, Kartik’s team is now claiming there have been creative differences with regards to the script. The production has hence decided to not put up with the chaos anymore and get another star to step in place of Kartik. While the actor has not been locked, the right replacement is being scouted,” informed the source to the portal.
Earlier this year, Bollywood Hungama had also reported Kartik’s schedule made Karan upset and that they weren’t on speaking terms. The film’s shooting began on November 9, 2019, and completed its Punjab schedule as well. Kartik also shared a picture of himself with the film’s script.
Kartik shared a picture of himself and Karan Johar on Instagram. In the photo, the actor is seen taking the filmmaker’s blessings before kick-starting Dostana 2. The team wrapped up the second schedule of the film around Christmas 2019.

The film, directed by Collin, is penned by Navjot Gulati, Sumit Aroraa, Rishabh Sharma, and D’Cunha.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Kartik will next be seen in the upcoming thriller “Dhamaka” which will drop directly on the OTT platform.
