Talking about the delay, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “Given that the film will be an opulent visual masterpiece and is also a period flick set against a Moghul backdrop the pre-production has taken longer than expected. This stage which was supposed to be completed a while back is far from over and will take the next few months as well. Keeping this in mind the first schedule which was expected to commence between June-July has now been pushed till the end of the year.”

The source gave details about the release date and said, “Since earlier the shoot of Takht was expected to commence in mid-2019, Karan was looking at releasing the film in the beginning of 2020. However, now, with this delay, the release of the film has been pushed to Diwali 2020, which is in November.”

Ranveer Singh is touted to play Shahjahan’s eldest son, Dara Shikoh, while Kareena Kapoor Khan will be playing his sister, Jahanumara Khan. It was previously rumoured that Bebo has been cast opposite Ranveer, but sources close to the movie said that it is Bhumi Pednekar, who will get to romance the Gully Boy actor.

The movie will indeed be an interesting watch as we know how Ranveer Singh slays in historical films. Give him any historical character and watch it come to life, as period dramas are totally up his alley. Takht, is still in the final stages of being drafted and Karan Johar is said to start the location recce soon. As of now the movie is slated to release late in the second half of 2020.
