Just when you thought that the world couldn’t get anymore bizarre, we came across a piece of news announcing a MenToo concert. Apparently, this Mentoo movement is an antithesis to the MeToo movement and is spearheaded by, Pooja Bedi.
Actor Pooja Bedi, who has been one of the voices behind the ‘#MenToo’ movement and has voiced her support in favour of Karan on multiple occasions, revealed to Bombay Times that a public rally will be held on June 15 from 11am to 1pm, at Azad Maidan where supporters of the ‘#MenToo’ movement will be gathering. Pooja also revealed to the daily that Karan and his group Band of Boys will be performing at the rally. “We are going to take bytes of people, and capture the sentiment about fake cases that is gripping the nation. We want to start changing things and are taking concrete measures to ensure that this initiative gains momentum,” revealed Pooja.
Pooja also went on to reveal that she had conversed with Karan and that he was overwhelmed with all the love and support that he has been receiving. She also revealed, “He (Karan) is now determined to take this forward and make sure that this does not happen to any other man. He said that there were 600 cases similar to his in just Taloja jail (Navi Mumbai).”
To take you back, Karan Oberoi was accused of rape and physical violence by a woman. He was arrested, but the woman was found faking false charges against him and had even carried out a fake attack on herself. Well, we will like to remind you guys that as noble as your MenToo movement is, the statistics prove that women still face violence and rape at the hands of men not just in the country, but in the world. MenToo, is nothing but an attention garnering gimmick, which fails to comprehend how India, is still one of the most dangerous countries for women. There is no mention of the skewed sex ratio, maternity deaths, female infanticide, rapes, etc in their MenToo movement. There is absolutely no mention of even rape cases that are dismissed, because of lack of evidence from the victim’s side. How tone deaf does one have to be to come up with ridiculous ideas like these? How long will these people continue using the dog-whistle of fake rape/domestic violence cases? Honestly, we wish some of these people involved in this bizarre rally would actually consider doing something for a living.
