India is celebrating its 18th Kargil Vijay Diwas which was named after the success of “Operation Vijay”. Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s victory against Pakistan in the 1999 war. On this occasion, Twitterati is saluting the bravery of armed forces and paying their tribute.
The Army declared the mission of Operation Vijay successful on 26 July 1999; since then the day has been celebrated annually as Vijay Diwas. The war began between India and Pakistan in Kashmir’s Ladakh after the Pakistan troops occupied Indian posts in the region. Everyone is celebrating this day in the honor of Indian Army and Twitterati are no behind.

Earlier, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi paid homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. Various events are organised all over the country to salute the contribution of the forces for the country’s safety and welfare. Along with paying homage to the gallant martyrs, parents of martyrs, veterans and widows, ‘veer naris’ are felicitated on this day.
Modi hailed the Indian armed forces for their sacrifices on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In a series of tweets, he said, “Remembering our brave soldiers who fought gallantly for the pride of our nation & the security of our citizens during the Kargil War. Along with him, many other political figures tweeted about this day.
Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of India’s military prowess & the great sacrifices our armed forces make while steadfastly keeping India safe. On the day, Twitter is buzzing with tributes to the Armed Forces who died fighting for the welfare of the nation.
