Karnataka: BJP leader Renukacharya announces retirement from electoral politics after defeat

Karnataka: Senior BJP leader Renukacharya, who was defeated in Saturday’s Karnataka Assembly elections, has announced his retirement from electoral politics.

Speaking to the reporters, he said, “We lost the elections despite our efforts at development work and during the pandemic outbreak. As a result, I am retiring from electoral politics and will concentrate on working for party candidates.”

Following this, on Sunday morning, supporters and activists gathered in front of the residence of MP Renukacharya in Honnali. His supporters, who have been protesting for him to retract his retirement declaration, are stunned by the news.

During the protest, an activist attempted suicide by ingesting poison, but was immediately thwarted by fellow protesters.
