Karnataka Federation of Petroleum Traders has decided to shut all 3,000 filling stations in the state on all Sundays starting from May 14. The petrol bunks will remain open for the customers for only 12 hours from May 15, 2017.

The move came after the federation decided to back protest initiated by the Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers (CIPD) urging to end irregularity in the commission of the petroleum dealers. However, Petrol bunks situated near national highways have been exempted, in order to avoid any inconvenience to the travelers.

The petroleum dealers in the country will hold ‘No Purchase Day’ on May 10 as part of the protest. They have also decided not to purchase petroleum products from oil marketing companies (OMCs) on May 10 urging the government to fulfill their long-pending demands.
