While speaking to Mirror earlier producer Juno Chopra had revealed that he was discussing a remake of his grandfather BR Chopra’s 1978 drama, Pati Patni Aur Woh. His brother Abhay had added, “We are blessed to have a library of films. As long as you find a new way to tell an old story, it’s fine.”
Now, we have learnt that after producing the 2017 remake of Yash Chopra’s 1969 suspense thriller Ittefaq, Juno is gearing up for the remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh, a comical take on extra-marital affairs with Kartik Aaryan stepping into Sanjeev Kumar’s shoes. The late actor played Ranjeet Chhadha, a middle-aged, married boss who plays the sympathy card with his secretary, played by Ranjeeta Kaur, to reel her into his web till his ‘terminally ill’ wife, Vidya Sinha, gets suspicious and busts him.
“Kartik loved the script and is excited to be a part of the remake of an iconic film. While the core of the story will remain the same, the makers have contemporised it so it will appeal to today’s audience. Prep has begun, the team starts shooting from February in Mumbai,” informs a source close to the development. The makers are presently finalising the two actresses to play the patni and the woh.
Kartik recently wrapped up shooting for Dinesh Vijan’s Luka Chuppi. Buzz is, he is in Anees Bazmee’s next untitled romcom in which he plays a college student and also in talks with Imtiaz Ali for a film which features Sara Ali Khan as the leading lady.
