Karwa Chauth is a Hindu festival of married women as they observe nirjala fast and don’t consume food or water for the whole day. The fast is kept for the long life of their husbands and is celebrated mostly in northern states of India.
On this festival, the women wear new clothes and apply mehndi on their hands. They also sing sings and narrate folk tales around the festival.
Bollywood is known for celebrating this festival both in real and reel life. There are a lot of weddings that took place over the past year and the couples are also expected to observe their first karwa Chauth this year.
As the festival nears, here’s looking at B-town couples who will be celebrating their first fast this year:
- Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh
Bollywood’s most loved couple Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot in November last year and they both look all things cute in pictures.
- Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
The Bollywood turned Hollywood couple “Nickyanka” is known for giving couple goals in all the mushy pictures. They tied the knot in December last year after dating each other for months. This year they will be celebrating their first Karva Chauth together.
- Rakhi Sawant & Ritesh
Controversial queen Rakhi Sawant married NRI businessman Ritesh a couple of months back in a private affair. Though there were a lot of questions on her suspicious marriage however, Rakhi’s husband came to fore for an interview and cleared the air by confirming his existence.
- Kapil Sharma & Ginni Chatrath
India’s top comedian, Kapil Sharma tied the knot with Ginni Chatrath in December last year in Punjab. Ginni is also expecting and will be due this year in December. However, this is their first Karwa Chauth after marriage.
- Nawab Shah & Pooja Batra
Another couple to recently join the marriage club is Nawab Shah and Pooja Batra. The couple married in July this year after dating for a long time.
