In a heart-wrenching incident, small children in Uttar Pradesh begged for alms to carry out their mother’s cremation and last rites. The administration has offered them a monetary help of Rs 1 lakh.

The incident happened in Shahjahanpur’s Jalalabad, where Ram Devi used to live with her four children in a small hut. She died on Monday, after being bitten by a venomous snake.

Abandoned by her husband five years ago, Ram Devi used to work as a construction labourer to feed the children. The locals informed the authorities about her death, but no action was taken on their part. Devastated over the death of their mother, the children begged for some money to carry out the final rites of their mother.

District Magistrate, Shri Narendra Kumar has offered to help the children and provided them with a support of Rs 1 lakh. Besides this, he has also provided for their insurance. The administration will also provide for the children’s education and housing.

The neighbours also informed the authorities that the orphans have no one to look after them now.
