In a moving gesture, the authorities of the Kochi Metro thanked the workers who were involved in the massive construction of the soon-to-be-inaugurated metro railways on Monday.
They gratefully acknowledged their efforts by hosting a traditional banquet known as Sadhya. They held the banquet for over 800 migrant workers from across the country, who had worked hard in the project.
Even top Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) officials along with MD, Elias George, IAS, sat with the construction workers for the banquet and had the meal together with them.
Besides a delicious banquet, some cultural events, including dance and music were also organised for the workers.
The migrant workers also wrote down their names on the message board.
Notably, Kochi Metro has decided to hire transgenders as its employees. It will also have the largest contingent of women staff members, including female train drivers.
Kochi Metro will be inaugurated on June 17.
