Bollywood filmmaker, Kundan Shah, passed away in his sleep of a heart attack in Mumbai at 5 am on Saturday. The director of classic movie, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, was 70 years old.
His famous works include movies like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ (1983), ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ (1993) and TV shows like ‘Nukkad’ (1986) and ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ (1988). His last film ‘P se PM Tak’ was released in 2014.
Shah also won the National Award for Best First Film of a Director for Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. In his later years, Shah directed films like ‘Kya Kehna’ (2000) and ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ (2002).
Shah, along with 23 other directors, announced that they were returning their National Awards to the central government as part of a protest against growing intolerance in the country in November 2015.
