Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate is a devotional Gujarati film directed by Ankit Sakhiya, which was made without stars or incredible production values. The story of the film is about a rickshaw driver who is stuck at a farmhouse because of bad weather and has to deal with his past. He embarks on a hard journey full of emotions, mixing spirituality, self-reflection, and faith, and through this, he has a vision of Lord Krishna which turns him into a good man.

It was a very small release that turned into a box office phenomenon. Although Laalo had a slow start in the first weeks, it got extraordinary momentum and continued to maintain the audience through the continuous positive response.

The industry reports say that during its theatrical run, the film made a jaw-dropping ₹120.58 crore worldwide which is a nearly 24,000% profit. It is the only Gujarati film to enter the 100 crore club worldwide. In India, Laalo earned approximately ₹95 crore nett, while overseas earnings were ₹7 crore.

Analysts consider this surprising phenomenal rise to a mix of reasons: very touching story of the film, its connection with cultural and spiritual themes that appeal to a large part of the audience, and media and word-of-mouth recommendations as the main causes.

Such a combination also gave the film a chance to last nearly three months run in theaters with great success. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sakhiya reflected on the film’s impact: “This is not just about showing figures. This is about delivering a message. Krishna doesn’t belong to us alone—he belongs to the whole world.”

The Hindi Release and Big-Screen Showdown

The film, having the most successful Christmas ever, was able to attract new viewers and Laalo Krishna Sada Sahaayate was released in the Hindi market recently on January 9, 2026. The film was eventually placed below the two biggest and most awaited, high-budget releases: Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Prabhas’s The Raja Saab.

Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, has already set new records in box office and is thus categorized as one of the most successful Hindi films of all time, both in terms of domestic and worldwide collections.

On the other hand, The Raja Saab, which has pan-India sensation Prabhas in the lead along with an impressive supporting cast, had a powerful start with high first-day numbers, indicating its potential as a magnet for the audience.
