In an unfortunate event, at least 22 people were killed and over 40 others got injured after a bus veered off a highway in Jajarkot district of western Nepal on Thursday, said officials.
Almost 13 people died on the spot and nine more succumbed to their injuries in a hospital in the district, said Krishna Chandra Poudel, chief district officer of Jajarkot.
The accident took place when the bus was going from the district headquarters of Khalanga to Khara. It is a remote village. At the time of accident, the bus was carrying over 60 passengers.
The adversity happened while crossing one of the most dangerous mountainous highways in Nepal.
Notably, the rescue efforts at the remote side were started soon but hampered by the lack of light.
