At least 26 people including women and children were killed and more than a dozen injured in incidents of lightning strikes across Bihar in last 24 hours.
The death cases were reported from different places including Vaishali, Patna, Rohtas, Saran, Buxar, Bhojpur, Gaya, Samastipur, Siwan, Araria and Aurangabad districts on Sunday.
Post the incident, the state government has declared a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the family of each victim.
Notably, lightning strikes during monsoon are common across the state. Bamboo and grass huts remain more in danger during this period.
Bihar saw a heavy rainfall on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department forecast, similar conditions will remain on Monday as well.
