Lock Upp Season 2 on Netflix: Reality television franchise Lock Upp is officially coming back for a second season and this time the show is doing a big leap, it’s moving to Netflix. This announcement feels like one of the biggest shifts in India’s unscripted entertainment world right now because producer Ektaa Kapoor’s prison-themed reality format is now set to reach a worldwide streaming crowd.
Lock Upp Season 2 on Netflix
Netflix revealed earlier this week that Lock Upp Season 2 will premiere on June 27, 2026. The streaming schedule will run weekly from Saturday to Wednesday, at 8 PM. This matters a lot since the first season which released back in 2022 streamed on ALTBalaji and MX Player and turned into one of India’s most talked about digital reality series.
Release Date Officially Announced
After a high-profile promo run, where mysterious “qaidis” showed up across Indian cities, plus all the viral social media teasers, Netflix finally made it clear: Lock Upp Season 2 starts streaming on June 27, 2026. That reveal basically ended the weeks-long chatter among fans who were just waiting for the comeback.

Will Kangana Ranaut Return?
One of the main uncertainties for the new run is what happens with actress and politician Kangana Ranaut, who hosted the first season.
Right now, Netflix has not officially confirmed whether Ranaut will be part of Season 2. Some entertainment outlets claim the makers might be testing a different hosting setup, but nothing has been formally confirmed by the streaming platform.
New Hosts Rumoured for Season 2
Industry buzz has centered around the possibility of a dual-host format featuring filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan and actor Riteish Deshmukh.

In the newly released teaser, Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh are introduced as “Prisoner No. 06” and “Prisoner No. 27” inside separate jail cells before coming face-to-face, teasing a deeper, more hands-on involvement in the game’s daily mechanics.
‘Dhamaal 4’ release postponed, Ajay Devgn-starrer to hit theatres on July 10
What Will the Format Be?
The core concept of Lock Upp is expected to remain unchanged. Contestants, often drawn from the worlds of entertainment, social media and public life, are placed in a prison-like environment where they must compete, survive eliminations and navigate personal conflicts.
Contestants
Netflix and Balaji Telefilms have not officially released the final contestant list. However, several entertainment reports have speculated on potential participants from television, film and influencer circles.
Industry reports have also suggested that some prominent personalities are being approached for the season, but no names have been officially confirmed by the makers.
