Lok Sabha 2019: Trinamool Congress announces candidates, 41% tickets to women

Trinamool Congress on Tuesday announced its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. The party has decided to field 41 percent woman an increment from last Lok Sabha elections where the party had 35 percent female candidates.

While addressing the media, party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that the party is going to win Darjeeling.

The party will contest from from Darjeeling. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) MLA Amar Singh Rai is slated to resign from the Assembly and contest the Lok Sabha polls as a TMC candidate. From Asansol, Sreemati Dev Verma (Moon Moon Sen) will contest from the party.

The Election Commission of India on Sunday evening had announced dates for Lok Sabha Elections 2019, which would commence from April 11 to May 19, with the counting of votes on May 23. Voting for the Lok Sabha Elections will take place in seven phases across the country to decide on the 543 names which will go to the Lower House of the Parliament.

Elections in West Bengal are among the most stretched out, with polls taking place across seven phases.
