In Virudhunagar district on Saturday, a journalist from a weekly magazine was attacked by a Congress party member as he was taking pictures of empty chairs.

The video is going viral on social media and it clearly shows how the party worker manhandled the photojournalist and tried to snatch his camera.

Following the incident, RM Muthuraj the photojournalist was admitted to the hospital. Other journalists present at the spot intervened and ruckus broke out between the two groups.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suryah reacted on the incident by saying “Tamil Nadu Congress President KS Alagiri to participate in public meeting at Virudhunagar. Chairs are empty with no people, media takes photographs of empty chairs & Congress goondas enter scene to thrash the journalists for taking pics of empty chairs! Way to go @RahulGandhi!”
