Dhanush’s Maari 2 released on Friday, December 21. Sai Pallavi, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Tovino Thomas & Krishna Kulasekaran are also in the cast. The movie written and directed by Balaji Mohan, is the sequel to 2015’s action comedy Maari, which also starred Dhanush.
Maari 2 has been produced by Dhanush, under his banner Wunderbar Films.
The sequel of Maari, whose trailer got 13 million views in 3 days of its release on YouTube, was expected to get a firm start at the box office. Maari 2 has collected approximately 41 Lakhs on its day 1 at the Chennai city box office, according to a tweet sent out by Ramesh Bala.
Balaji Mohan’s directorial grossed the business of 5.75 crores at the Tamil Nadu box office. With this, Maari 2 has become the third best opener of Dhanush’ career after Maari (6.54 crores) & Anegan(5.80 crores), according to reports.
The worldwide Box office collections of Maari 2 has been calculated around Rs 7-8 crores on the first day of its release. The movie KGF, which was also released on Friday, have proved to be a great competition to the box office collection of Maari 2.
The film is full of action, comedy and drama as it features Dhanush who is the most loved and naughtiest don of South Indian movies and on the other side Tovino Thomas, who plays the antagonist in this one is a complete stunner.
