New Delhi, January 5: Bollywood actor Richa Chadha, who will be next seen in Subhash Kapoor’s Madam Chief Minister, has come under intense backlash after the poster of her political drama was released on Monday. The film is also being accused of caste appropriation and not having a Dalit community actor play lead role.
“Glad to present to you all, my new movie #MadamChiefMinister, a political drama about an ‘untouchable’ who hustles and makes it big in life! Out in cinemas on 22nd January!” the actress wrote while sharing the poster.

In the poster, Chadha can be seen sporting short hair and holding a broom. It is being said that the Chadha’s character is loosely based on the life of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati. However, netizens were quick to point out that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo had a degree in science and worked as a teacher prior to joining politics.
How does holding the broom in your hand for the poster make any sense?
Prior to her political career, Mayawati Ji was a teacher.— Ankush Pal (@ankushpal2001) January 4, 2021
This is casteist. Equating Mayawati to a sweeper is an affront to a great leader @NCWIndia

So The Richa Chadha ji.. you didn’t find any objection in this poster???.. Mayawati was a teacher not a sweeper.. and you are potraying her as if she was a sweeper.. just because she belongs to a backward caste.. thats shows the real manuvadi idealogy here.. u dissaponted a lot

You really need to know untouchability means. It’s not an aesthetic. This as humiliating as it can get. Please take this off. There’s scope for better content. Thanks!!
