Renowned international wax museum Madame Tussauds is all set to come to the national capital next year. The New Delhi Madame Tussauds will be 22nd in the world and is likely to launch in mid-2017 at Regal Cinema in Connaught Place.

People here will be able to see both local and international figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, and American celebrity Kim Kardashian. Apart from them, megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s statue is also expected to feature in the Delhi museum.

The museum will be spread across two floors.

Madame Tussauds is regulated by Merlin Entertainment, an entertainment company headquartered in Dorset, England. The company has largest and most popular Madame Tussauds wax museum in London. The London’s museum has wax replicas of Indian personalities including Sachin Tendulkar, Narendra Modi, Mahatama Gandhi, and Aishwarya Rai.

“The feel and design of the museum will be connected to Delhi,” said Anshul Jain, general manager of Merlin Entertainment in India.

“Ever since we introduced Amitabh Bachchan as the first Bollywood figure in Madame Tussauds London in 2000, we have seen how Madame Tussauds appeals to the Indian consumer, and having a permanent attraction in the heart of the country’s capital made perfect sense for the evolution of the Madame Tussauds story,” Merlin Entertainment’s chief new openings officer, John Jakobsen, said in a statement.
