Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar’ cleared by CBFC after much controversy

After days of controversies, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s next “Indu Sarkar” has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) revising committee. The filmmaker says he is happy and relieved as his film post the development.

Bhandarkar took to Twitter to inform that the film was cleared with a few cuts. “Thank you CBFC revising committee. ‘Indu Sarkar’ has been cleared with few cuts. Happy and relieved. See you in cinemas this Friday, July 28,” Bhandarkar tweeted.

The film is set against the backdrop of the 1975-77 Emergency. It features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Chaudhary. The film also stars Supriya Vinod, Anupam Kher. It has characters inspired by the late Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi.

CBFC had suggested 12 cuts along with two disclaimers in the film. It also said to remover words like RSS and Akali from “Indu Sarkar”.
