Father who raped his 11-year-old daughter for six months was sentenced to life imprisonment by Ujjain court in Madhya Pradesh. After hearing the sentence, the convict approached the court and asked the court to reconsider the sentence given to him in the wake of his age and first offence. After the conviction, the court read out a verse of Manu Smriti and upheld the sentence.
This verse of Manu Smriti which was recited was: “पिताचार्य: सुमाताभार्यापुत्र: पुरोहित: नादंडयोनामरोज्ञास्ति य: स्वधर्में न तिष्ठति” meaning, whoever commits a crime must be punished, whether it is a father, mother, guru, wife, friend or a priest.
The court while reciting Shlok said that when man understood the existence of society, then they laid down the duties for humans. At the same time, there was a need for punishment against those who broke these rules. The court said that this is the reason why many different smritis were made in different eras. One of them is Manu Smriti. The court then upheld the sentence of the convict by quoting the above Manusmriti verses.
Convict raped daughter for 6 months
The culprit is a driver who raped his daughter for 6 months in Madhya Pradesh. On April 6, 2019, her 11-year-old daughter filed a complaint and told that her father, who is a driver and sometimes stayed out of the house for 10-12 days, raped her several times for six months.
The girl told that her father had threatened her that he would kill her if she told about this to someone else. But when she suffered too much, she told her mother about it. The mother who was in shock hearing about this informed the Anganwadi worker and rushed to the police station along with the child line officers, where they lodged a complaint against the father of the child. The court has sentenced the father to life imprisonment in this case.
