Maharashtra Civic Body Election Results LIVE: The BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena alliance on Friday secured a clear majority in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections by bagging 118 out of 227 seats. The BJP won 89 seats, while the Shinde-led Sena secured 29. The alliance thus crossed the halfway mark of 114 needed to control the country’s richest civic body.
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has hailed BJP’s victory in the civil elections in the state. Taking to X. the BJP leader said – “Under the visionary leadership of Hon PM Narendra Modi Ji, along with the guidance of BJP National President and Hon Union Minister J. P. Nadda ji, Hon Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amitbhai Shah, BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin ji, and the tireless efforts of BJP State President MLA Ravindra Chavan and all the party workers, BJP has achieved a momentous victory in the state once again!”
In the latest developments from the Mumbai municipal corporation elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and ally Shiv Sena are leading as early trends emerge after vote counting commenced on Friday morning.
Television channels have reported that the BJP is leading in 16 of the 227 wards, with the Shiv Sena, under Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, leading in 10 wards. However, the State Election Commission has yet to confirm these early results.
This election is the first for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) since a significant political reshuffle in 2022, when Eknath Shinde broke away from the Shiv Sena, leading to further realignments in the region’s political landscape.

The BJP and Shiv Sena have together crossed the majority mark of 114 in Mumbai's BMC polls. The BJP is ahead on 89 seats and the Shiv Sena is leading on 29 seats, TV reports showed.
From ward number in 194, Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Nishikant Shinde has won the elections, defeating Shiv Sena's Samadhan Sarvankar.
Shinde is the brother of UBT leader and MLC Sunil Shinde.
Amid the counting for the BMC election results, three more winners have been declared. These are -
Ward 207 - Rohidas Lokhande, BJP
Ward 208 - Ramakant Rahate, Shiv Sena (UBT)
Ward 193 - Hemangi Woralikar, Shiv Sena UBT
In Navi Mumbai, the BJP is leading in 29 of the 111 wards. The Shiv Sena stands second with leads in 27 wards, show early trends.
BMC officials have confirmed that Asha Deepak Kale from Congress has been declared as winner in Dharavi’s Ward number 183. Kale won by a margin of 1,450 votes. She received a total of 5406 votes. The second highest votes were procured by Vaishali Shevale of Shiv Sena (Shinde).
In early trends, BJP is leading with 39 seats, Shiv Sena in 3 and Congress in 16 in Nagpur and others were yet to register any leads.
In Thane, Eknath Shinde’s stronghold, his party is leading in 14 of the 131 wards, ahead of ally BJP which is leading in 12 wards, show early trends.
